ENG - Mountain lakes are always been an attraction for millions of people around the world, mirrors of water of every shade of blue and emerald green that leave you speechless. The most exciting moments to observe them are certainly at dawn and dusk, where the waters (usually in the absence of wind) are very calm and the lake becomes a perfect mirror. In this article I will talk about one of the most beautiful lakes not only of Italy, but of the world for me: Lake Carezza, in the splendid scenery of the Dolomites in the SüdTirol in Italy.

ITA - I laghi di montagna sono da sempre un’attrazione per milioni di persone nel mondo, specchi d’acqua di ogni tonalità di blu e verde smeraldo che lasciano senza parole. I momenti più emozionanti per osservarli sono sicuramente all’alba e al tramonto, dove le acque ( di solito in assenza di vento ) sono calmissime e il lago diventa un perfetto specchio. In questo articolo vi parlerò di uno dei laghi più belli non sono dell’Italia, ma del mondo secondo me: Il Lago di Carezza o Karersee, nella splendida cornice delle Dolomiti nel SüdTirol in Italia.

ENG - As you can see from the map it is perhaps the easiest lake to reach that exists, as it is located exactly at the roadside and has a convenient parking (for a fee, but there are free parking spaces outside) right in front of the entrance. Getting here is very easy, by car from Bolzano you have to follow the signs that lead to Val d’Ega - Eggental in the direction of Cardano and then take the SS41 which will take you directly to the lake. If you arrive from Val di Fassa, at Vigo di Fassa, take the road that goes up to Passo Costalunga, follow it all and you will find yourself in front of the lake. ITA - Come potete vedere dalla mappa forse è il lago più facilmente raggiungibile che esista, in quanto è situato esattamente a bordo strada e ha un comodo parcheggio ( a pagamento, ma ci sono dei parcheggi fuori gratuiti ) proprio davanti all’entrata. Arrivare è molto semplice, in auto da Bolzano dovete seguire le indicazioni che portano alla Val d’Ega - Eggental in direzione Cardano e poi prende la SS41 che vi porterà diretti al lago. Se invece arrivate dalla Val di Fassa, all’altezza di Vigo di Fassa prendete la strada che sale al Passo Costalunga, percorretelo tutto e vi troverete davanti al lago. ENG - Located in the upper Val d’Ega at 1.534 m in the municipality of Nova Levante, about 25 km from Bolzano in South Tyrol. It’s set among thick fir woods and is located under the slopes of the Latemar massif, which is reflected in its crystal clear water. Powered only by underground sources, the level varies continuously and also according to the season: in late spring the lake reaches the highest level, thanks to the melting of the snow, while in October the lowest level is reached. 

ITA - Situato nell’alta Val d’Ega a 1.534 m nel comune di Nova Levante, a circa 25 km da Bolzano in Alto Adige è incastonato tra fitti boschi di abeti e si trova sotto le pendici del massiccio del Latemar, che si specchia nella sua acqua cristallina. Alimentato solo da sorgenti sotterranee, il livello varia di continuo ed anche secondo la stagione: in tarda primavera il lago raggiunge il livello più alto, grazie allo scioglimento della neve, mentre in ottobre si raggiunge il livello più basso.

ENG - The small lake is famous for the incredible colors of its water: just a slight change of light to dye it with a new shade, a feature that makes it unique in all the Dolomites and for which is also called “The Rainbow Lake”. Perfect for a relaxed and peaceful day, you can walk along the comfortable path suitable for everyone, without going beyond the fence that borders the lake and touch the water because of the delicate flora and fauna that lives in it, that with human contact risks to get damaged.

ITA - Il piccolo lago è famoso per gli incredibili colori della sua acqua: basta un minimo cambiamento di luce per tingerla di una sfumatura sempre nuova, caratteristica che lo rende unico in tutte le Dolomiti e che gli è valso il soprannome di “Lago Arcobaleno”. Perfetto per una giornata rilassata e tranquilla, si può passeggiare lungo un sentiero comodo e adatto a tutti, senza però toccare l’acqua per via delle delicata flora e fauna che lo abita che con il contatto umano rischia di rovinarsi.

ENG - Unfortunately in October 2018 it was hit, like many other Dolomite areas, by the storm “Vaia” which wiped out thousands of trees that surrounded it, and also along the road that leads to the lake you can see the devastating effects of this cataclysm. But I want to tell everyone not to let be intimidated by this because the place has lost none of its magic, and never as in this period the area and its inhabitants need as much tourism as possible to get our beloved forests back on their feet.

ITA - Purtroppo nell’ottobre del 2018 è stato colpito, come moltissime altre zone Dolomitiche, dalla tempesta “Vaia” che ha spazzato via migliaia di alberi che lo circondavano, e anche lungo la strada che porta ad esso gli effetti devastanti di questo cataclisma si notano.. ma invito tutti quanti a non lasciarsi intimorire da ciò perché il luogo non ha perso nulla della sua magia, e mai come in questo periodo anche alla zona e ai suoi abitanti occorre più turismo possibile per poter rimettere in sesto le nostre amate foreste.
